what does DEFCON run at Manatee Gun and Archery Club?
DEFCON runs Ruck. Shoot. Repeat. at Manatee Gun and Archery Club, 1805 Logue Rd, Myakka City, FL 34251. It is a 350 acre facility in Manatee County, inland from Bradenton, with a public line, three action bays, a pistol caliber carbine course, and rifle out to 600 yards. RSR draws entries from all over Florida, so for most people the drive is part of the plan rather than a problem.
RUCK.SHOOT.REPEAT
quarterly, starting at 8:30 AM and finishing around 12:30 PM
Manatee Gun and Archery Club covers 350 acres. Alongside the public line there are three action bays, one of them with a cowboy shoot house, a pistol caliber carbine course, Area 51, and a 600 yard range. Restrooms are in the office. The club does not supply drinking water, so bring your own.
Ruck. Shoot. Repeat. runs at Area 51, which gives 135 yards of rifle and 30 yards of pistol. That is what makes the format possible here: the event needs a rucking loop and a 100 yard steel array on the same piece of ground, and very few ranges within reach of Tampa have room for both. The bay itself is grass, with cement under the long shaded pavilion.
Area 51 is a genuine drive back from the entrance, so the gate is not the destination. Build a few extra minutes into your morning for the road in.
Sign in at the pro shop and pick up a wrist band before you do anything else. You will not be allowed to shoot without it.
From there, follow the dirt road all the way back until you see the big shelter. That is Area 51 and that is where we run.
Typical door to door times by road. They do not account for traffic, so give yourself a cushion on match morning.

This is the venue-specific part. The firearms, ammo, and gear requirements are set by the ruleset for whichever event you entered, and every event page lists them in full.
Read the ruleset for your event before you register, not the morning of. If you are unsure whether a piece of gear passes, ask us first. We would rather sort it out by email than turn you away at equipment check.
Or email info@defcontf.com.
we run at two venues. here is the one you are not looking at.
